ChairTalk: Books

I find that talking to your students on the chair is very important. If they are nervous, it takes their mind off of things. If not, it makes the lesson a lot more interesting for them. Only in the last few years I have talked about books with different students third grade and up. Thanks to wildly popular series like Harry Potter and Twilight, reading is cool! Like most chair talk, you don't have to be an expert on books, the kids are usually happy to tell you about their favorites. I will be forever grateful to the student this winter who told me about The Hunger Games. The third book in the trilogy, Mockingjay, has been one of my favorite books of the summer!
